Common questions
How do I take sales tax out of a total?
Divide the total by 1 plus the tax rate as a decimal. For a 7.25% rate, divide by 1.0725. The difference between the total and the result is the tax.
Where do I find my rate?
Your state revenue department publishes rates, and many sellers use tax software for multi-state sales. This tool does not provide tax advice.
